The Philadelphia 76ers tried to put an end to their never-ending issues by acquiring James Harden.

That was a fun experiment to watch during the regular season, but — as plenty expected — it didn’t lead to the postseason success they were hoping for.

Even so, it seemed like with the right pieces — and now under a different coach — the Sixers could and should still be primed for championship contention, but Harden doesn’t seem to feel that way.

That’s why he asked out of Philadelphia and is looking forward to being traded, which obviously led Joel Embiid to be disappointed.

In a recent sit-down with Rachel Nichols, the reigning NBA MVP opened up on his feelings about Harden’s desire to leave.

And even though he was admittedly let down by that, Embiid also said that he understands the business side of the game, and said that he’s still going to be friends with Harden for the rest of their lives, citing that his imminent departure won’t change their relationship.

Embiid and Harden were spotted hanging out together just last week, shutting down all rumors about a potential beef between the two stars.

Harden has handled himself this way over the past three seasons, and this next will be his fourth team in as many years, so there shouldn’t be any reasons to take things personally at this point.

Of course, the Sixers will still try to work things out and hold onto him if they don’t find enough value in the trade market, but he’s proven to be difficult to deal with and trust when he’s unhappy somewhere.
