The Philadelphia 76ers have been embroiled in drama all offseason as they try to figure out what to do with James Harden.

Harden asked out from the 76ers after the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension and he’s made it known he would prefer to be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

However, the Clippers have yet to offer a package to Daryl Morey’s liking, so the likely result is that Harden will suit up for the team when the 2023-24 NBA season starts.

The situation with Harden has overshadowed the fact that Philadelphia’s got a new head coach in Nick Nurse.

Nurse won a title with the Toronto Raptors and is expected to overhaul the offense to include more ball and man movement.

So far, Joel Embiid has been a fan of Nurse’s system via Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“I think I’ve always wanted to play that way,” Joel Embiid said of sharing the ball in Nick Nurse’s system. “I never liked just being an iso player. I don’t think that’s the right way to play, and I don’t think that’s the right way to win. So I like the system …,” Embiid said.

Embiid has been accustomed to the offense running through him either down low or in the high post, but this year it sounds like he’ll get more opportunities to be off the ball and make plays for his teammates.

Today’s NBA features plenty of teams that spread the ball around and give everyone a chance to touch the basketball, and it sounds like that’s going to be the case for the 76ers this season.
