It is always fascinating to find out why a good player decides to take a pay cut.

Most recently, Chargers star pass-rusher Joey Bosa took a pay cut to remain with the team.

According to insider Dov Kleiman, The former Buckeye believes that “winning” is more important than making “extra money”.

The 28-year-old was a possible trade candidate this offseason with new head coach Jim Harbaugh taking over the team, but he chose to stay on a smaller deal.

Bosa, like a lot of great NFL players, has made a lot of money.

However, he and his team have yet to really win in the biggest moments.

Other than winning a national championship at Ohio State, the former No. 3 overall pick hasn’t come close to winning a Super Bowl.

Perhaps he sees a chance with Harbaugh now taking over as head coach.

The four-time Pro-Bowler has been a really good player for this franchise as the years have gone on.

Now, despite combining for just 9.0 sacks over the last two years, the former Defensive Rookie of the Year has 67.0 career sacks.

He has eclipsed 10.0 sacks four times in his seven-year career.

The duo of he and Khalil Mack should provide Harbaugh with some tremendous firepower on the defensive line.

In a division where Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs rule the division, having a great defense will be key.

Bosa and Mack, along with other Pro Bowl or All-Pro players in linebacker Denzel Perryman and safety Derwin James, should help this unit be one of the best in the entire league.
