During his career as the face of the Denver Broncos on the field, John Elway became one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and finished his career with back-to-back Super Bowl titles, which is no easy feat.
After his storied playing career came to an end, Elway took the route that many former players who played with one organization took and joined the front office, where he was tasked with trying to get his team back to its best on the football field.
Although Elway made plenty of mistakes as the Broncos general manager, as anyone does at that important position within an NFL organization, he did have some success as well, helping the team land fellow superstar quarterback Peyton Manning, who also led the team to a Super Bowl title during his time in Denver.
Now that Elway is no longer the general manager of the storied franchise, the 64-year-old recently opened up about what he believes was his biggest mistake in that position, and of course, it involves the quarterback position.
While on the Pardon My Take podcast, Elway admitted that not drafting Josh Allen, who is currently one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills, was his biggest mistake via Barstool Denver.

That’s a pretty tough pill to swallow for Elway, as he might’ve been able to finish his career as general manager in Denver on a high note in the same way he did during his playing days.
Allen ultimately landed in an ideal situation in Buffalo and hasn’t looked back, although there’s a chance he could’ve had more success much quicker in Denver with Elway helping him along the way.
