Sometimes two NFL players’ careers are linked together forever for one reason or another, and this has always been the case with former Green Bay Packers quarterbacks Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.
Former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel believes the two have a lot in common other than the obvious aspect of Rodgers being Favre’s protege and taking the reins as the team’s starting QB after three years sitting on the bench learning from the Hall-of-Famer.
Manziel appeared on The Rush with Maxx Crosby and said they are “two of the most natural throwers of the football of all time” and said he couldn’t decide if forced to pick between the two, as Favre will always be the bigger legend, but Rodgers is the player he idolized growing up.

Each brought the Packers one Super Bowl victory and Favre brought the team to a second appearance, while Favre has three MVP awards compared to Rodgers’ four.
Both also eventually left the Packers after well over a decade under center to join the New York Jets.
It’s an oddly similar career path, and when Rodgers took over for Favre it was interesting to see the obvious similarities and nuances that he picked up from Favre over the years, as Rodgers also had a gunslinger mentality, yet was much more averse to throwing interceptions.
Current Packers QB Jordan Love was Rodgers’ understudy for three years as well and appears to have taken on a lot of Rodgers’ traits as well.
Favre and Rodgers will always be linked, and which one had the better career is still up in the air.
