The Golden State Warriors made a business decision this offseason.
They allowed Klay Thompson to test the free-agent market, and they didn’t seem to be that interested in keeping him around.
For the first time in his career, the future Hall of Famer will play for another franchise.
Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean the ever-lasting relationships he built during his time in the Bay area will no longer be there.
Recently, Warriors star Jonathan Kuminga addressed Thompson’s departure.
Making an appearance on the Warriors’ Summer League clash with the Phoenix Suns, the former G-League Ignite player stated that he could only be happy for Thompson because he made the best decision for himself and his family (via Warriors on NBC Sports).
“At the end of the day, I’m happy for him.”

Kuminga claimed that he has still been in contact with Thompson after he joined the Dallas Mavericks, adding that he’s still asking him questions about the league and basketball and whatnot.
Notably, Kuminga was one of the main reasons why the Warriors may have felt comfortable parting ways with their four-time NBA champion.
He’s a very talented young player and showed glimpses of greatness last season when given an expanded role.
Kuminga is the future of the Warriors organization, and he should be their secondary scorer next to Stephen Curry next season.
He can get the job done on both ends of the floor and is an impressive athlete, and with the Warriors failing to land Paul George or any other big-name player in the offseason, he’s going to have to give them a big boost.
