The NFL Draft is nearing, but that doesn’t mean no moves are left to be made in free agency right now.

Veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips officially signed a one-year contract to join the New York Giants after spending the last two years with the Buffalo Bills.

On Instagram, he expressed his gratitude to the Bills and the fans in Buffalo for his time there, per Matt Parrino.

“Till next time Buffalo I love you more than you’ll ever know!” he wrote.

Phillips actually had two stints with the Bills, the first of which began when he signed with them early in the 2018 season just after the Miami Dolphins, the team that took him in the second round of the 2015 draft, waived him.

Just one season later, he had 9.5 sacks, 16 quarterback hits, and 13 tackles for loss, all of which were career-highs.

In 2023, he was at 2.5 sacks, five QB hits, five passes defended, and two tackles for loss while starting in nine of the 14 games he appeared in.

Buffalo is now in retooling mode after trading four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and the 2023 season was a difficult one for them, as multiple key defenders dealt with injuries.

They ended the regular season with a five-game winning streak, only to narrowly fall in the divisional round of the playoffs to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the Giants, Phillips is joining a team that is dealing with lots of uncertainty, especially after star running back Saquon Barkley bolted in free agency.

On the other hand, he will be joining a solid defensive front seven that includes linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux and Pro Bowl defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence.
