Jose Ramirez is both the on-field and spiritual leader of the Cleveland Guardians.
He has been performing at the highest level for eight years and has been an MLB player for 11, and all those seasons have come in a Guardians uniform.
His impact, however, extends beyond the field.
Among current Guardians players, Ramirez is arguably the most involved with the community.
Ramirez, as the face of the Guardians, is behind many of the franchise’s charitable initiatives, especially those including young kids with dreams of becoming ballplayers one day.
Ramirez was honored for his willingness to help and now a field in Cleveland has his name.
“Welcome to José Ramírez Field! @MrLapara was honored for his philanthropy today with a field dedication by the City of Cleveland and Cleveland Guardians Charities. He is the first current Cleveland player to have a field dedicated to him while still active,” MLB tweeted.

Many young kids look up to Ramirez, especially in his native Dominican Republic and in the Cleveland area.
He is a hero in Ohio, and how can he not since he carries the team every year?
A legit MVP candidate almost every season, Ramirez is having another excellent campaign with a .280/.352/.476 line (.828 OPS), 18 home runs, and 18 stolen bases.
That’s a bit off his usual pace but still high-level production anyway.
The problem is that many of his lineup mates haven’t produced much, and that has reflected in the standings.
In any case, Ramirez has contributed a lot to the city of Cleveland through the years, and not just as a baseball player.
He is seeing his efforts rewarded with his name on a field.
