One of the most surprising teams in the NBA during the 2022-23 season was, without a doubt, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Thunder headed into the 2022-23 campaign without any expectations, with the consensus being that the team was still rebuilding and anything close to .500 or an appearance in the play-in tournament was exceeding expectations.

Oklahoma City got off to a quick start to last season as they were playing incredibly well, with guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander becoming a legitimate NBA MVP candidate and quickly approaching superstardom.

Unfortunately, the team did suffer a major blow before coming into the season, as rookie Chet Holmgren went down with a foot injury that cost him his first season in the NBA.

Holmgren was expected to help the Thunder take the next step last season, but instead, he was stuck in street clothes, with his focus being on getting healthy and ready for next season.

On Monday, Holmgren will finally get back on the floor for the Thunder in Salt Lake City to get the NBA Summer League underway, and teammate Josh Giddey took to Twitter to hype up the debut.

If Holmgren can stay healthy and play up to his potential, the Thunder could be a playoff contender in the Western Conference, as it could be argued they have the best young squad in the league.

Holmgren will join the likes of Gilgeous-Alexander, Giddey, Luguentz Dort, and Jalen Williams, which just might be enough to propel this team to the next level to compete with the best of the best in the Western Conference.
