The Las Vegas Raiders‘ offseason was filled with a power struggle between the organization and Josh Jacobs.

Jacobs was franchise-tagged and was later thought to be signed to a long-term contract extension.

As the weeks went on, Jacobs learned that he did not receive an extension, prompting a holdout from the team.

However, the Raiders ultimately decided they wanted Jacobs to come back, signing him to a one-year, $12 million deal.

Armed with this deal, Jacobs seems to be ready to fight for this team.

In a recent conversation with Paul Gutierrez of ESPN via Pro Football Talk, Jacobs talked about his current state.

“I added muscle, so I think I’m in a good position,” Jacobs said.

He also said that he is “fresher than most people,” especially since he missed a lot of training camp.

Jacobs was the NFL’s leading rusher last season.

While it might not have been in a manner that he expected, he is back with the Raiders.

If he can perform similarly to how he did in 2022, a $12 million contract might seem like a bargain after this season.

The Raiders’ offense is slated to look different this season.

Derek Carr has moved on, leaving Jimmy Garoppolo with the keys to this team.

While Garoppolo is a seasoned veteran, whenever a new quarterback joins a team, certain changes are in order.

Jacobs could see more receiving work than he is used to, especially if Garoppolo struggles with the deep ball in early-season games.

The Raiders open their season with a matchup against the Denver Broncos, giving fans an opportunity to see Jacobs shine against a division rival.
