Joy Taylor Calls Out Doc Rivers Over Comments About Road Record

Midway through this season, the star-studded Milwaukee Bucks were underachieving, and thus they made the decision to fire rookie head coach Adrian Griffin.

Doc Rivers, who had been coaching nonstop since the 1999-2000 campaign until early this season, replaced Griffin, and for a while, it looked like the Bucks were figuring things out.

But they have now lost seven of their last 13 games, and on Tuesday, they fell 117-113 to the Washington Wizards, who are one of the NBA’s worst teams.

While Rivers said his team isn’t bringing the “necessary professionalism” on the road, Joy Taylor said on FS1’s “Speak” that he shouldn’t have made that comment, since the Bucks have a losing record on the road under him.

“Even if this is true, why would you bring this to anyone’s attention?” she asked.

The Bucks traded for future Hall of Fame guard Damian Lillard last summer, and they still have several members of the core that won them the NBA championship in 2021.

But although plenty of people were picking them to win it all this season, they have never really found their identity.

Rivers isn’t exactly a bad head coach, but in some ways, he seems to be living off the positive reputation he gained when he guided the 2008 Boston Celtics to the world title.

The elephant in the room for him is the numerous times his teams have blown 3-1 and 3-2 series leads in the playoffs.

Milwaukee fell shockingly in the first round of last year’s postseason to the Miami Heat, and if the playoffs were to begin today, they may have to face the Heat again in the first round.
