NFL fans might have a preview of a potential NFC playoff showdown early in the 2023 season.
The Dallas Cowboys will visit the San Francisco 49ers in their monumental Week 5 showdown.
While it’s still too early to tell how their seasons will unfold, this matchup has recent history written all over it.
The 49ers would like to retain their dominance over the Cowboys.
Conversely, the Cowboys would like to avenge the two playoff defeats against the 49ers.
Both teams are coming into this matchup with a lot of momentum as the Niners remain undefeated through Week 4.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 3-1 and are coming off an impressive victory against the New England Patriots.
As both teams aim for a victory, FS1’s Joy Taylor believes the game means more to the Cowboys than the 49ers.
“It is why I give the Niners the edge to this game. They’ve been sending the Cowboys home. So, they have the mental edge in this game. But I just think this game means more to the Cowboys. I don’t know how that’s gonna translate,” Taylor said in a recent episode of First Things First.

The defensive battle will be one of the key matchups in this showdown.
Both units have been elite, with Micah Parsons and the Cowboys allowing just 10.3 points per game.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are third in that department, surrendering only 14.5 per contest.
Will this be another low-scoring game like last season’s Divisional Round clash?
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys must change the narrative if they want to win this contest and put more legitimacy on their impressive start in 2023.
