When one is the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, he has to endure as much scrutiny as any other NFL player.

That’s the situation Dak Prescott has been in, but it seems the scrutiny thrown his way reached a crescendo last season.

He led the league with 15 interceptions during the regular season, and he closed out the year by throwing two picks in Dallas’ divisional-round loss to the rival San Francisco 49ers.

Prescott has vowed to throw fewer interceptions this season, but analyst Joy Taylor says that how many interceptions he throws ultimately doesn’t matter.

“What’s the value in highlighting interceptions specifically? Matthew Stafford threw the most interceptions in the league the year that they won the Super Bowl. Who cares?” pic.twitter.com/fRQHlgYpFE

Taylor pointed out how Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford had an NFL-high 17 interceptions during the 2021 regular season, but he led his team to a Super Bowl championship, and thus those 17 interceptions didn’t matter.

Prescott has been the Cowboys’ QB1 for seven seasons now, yet he has only won two playoff games and hasn’t gotten to the NFC Championship Game.

For the franchise dubbed “America’s Team,” that type of underperformance is simply unacceptable.

Prescott has been criticized for not raising his game on the big stage, and last season’s divisional round loss was a prime example.

Dallas has now lost in the playoffs to the 49ers in both of the last two seasons, and their fanbase is growing very restless after years of disappointing finishes.

The team has run out of excuses, as it has brought in wide receiver Brandin Cooks and cornerback Stephon Gilmore, giving them one of the most talented rosters in pro football.
