The Dallas Mavericks were confident heading into their NBA Finals matchup with the Boston Celtics.
After all, they were coming off a dominant series win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, a team they did not match up well with on paper.
It seemed that the Mavericks were going to give the Celtics some trouble, but after going down 3-0 in the series, they have not lived up to the hype.
There have been several explanations thrown out as to why the Mavericks haven’t performed as well as many expected, which Joy Taylor added to in a recent segment of “Speak” on FS1.
Taylor talked about the fact that Luka Doncic has not been the superstar the Mavericks wanted him to be, which is a big reason, at least in her mind, why they’re down 3-0.
“This is what we’re getting. He’s not being strategic, he’s not made really good decisions with the turnovers, particularly last night,” Taylor said.

Many people have talked about Doncic being one of the best players in the NBA, especially leading into this series.
Taylor isn’t so sure he has earned that distinction, especially after seeing his performances in the first three games of the series.
Hopefully, for Mavericks fans, Doncic can get back on his feet in Game 4, infusing some semblance of life into this team.
Otherwise, the Mavericks will get swept by the Celtics, which would be the first NBA Finals sweep since 2018.
