It’s not easy to find success in the NBA.
Even the best teams can have an off-night, and even teams that weren’t supposed to win can beat you on any given day.
That’s what makes winning a seven-game series so difficult.
With that in mind, Jrue Holiday shared his thoughts on the blowout loss in Game 4.
When asked about that, the former NBA champion claimed that winning was hard in the league and that closing out a team in the playoffs was especially difficult (via Noa Dalzell).
Jrue Holiday on if the looming championship made things harder:

He’s right, although that shouldn’t be an excuse at this point in the season.
This is the NBA Finals, and there shouldn’t be any need for additional motivation; it literally doesn’t get any bigger than this.
It seemed like the Celtics may have been a little too confident and were thinking about parades before finishing the deal, and that’s a dangerous position to be in.
Of course, no one has come back from a 0-3 series deficit, and it’s hard to envision the Celtics losing four games in a row, especially against the same opponent and after the way they’ve played.
But if you know how difficult it is to win at this level, it’s all the more reason to be fully locked in and determined to take care of business, especially given their history of shortcomings in recent years.
Now, they’ll have to bounce back and prove that they’re not the same Celtics of old by closing out the series in front of their home crowd in Game 5.
