The Boston Celtics made a major move when they acquired Jrue Holiday.

He wasn’t there only to provide his superior backcourt defense but also to give them some much-needed championship experience.

This group had already made it to the NBA Finals and had been battle-tested, but they hadn’t closed out the job.

Now, Holiday, someone who’s been there and done that in the past, is teaching them how to take care of business.

With his 26-point performance in Game 2, he joined some elite company in NBA Finals history.

As pointed out by ESPN’s “Get Up,” he’s now just the ninth player to score at least 25 points with ten rebounds on at least 75% from the floor, joining the likes of Nikola Jokic, Anthony Davis, Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin McHale, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Cedric Maxwell, and Wilt Chamberlain.

Any time you’re on a list with any of those names, you know you’re doing things the right way.

Holiday only missed three shots, two of them from beyond the arc.

Also, the fact that he’s doing that while guarding Kyrie Irving on the other end of the floor only makes this even more impressive.

Holiday is a proven winner and a positive presence in the locker room, someone who won’t crumble under pressure and hesitate to take big shots, even though he’s not expected to be their primary guy.

This kind of depth is very difficult to overcome, and unless Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic put up a historical scoring run, this will be an uphill race for Jason Kidd’s team.
