The Boston Celtics are back to the NBA Finals.

It was never in doubt, as not only did they have a somewhat easy path to the biggest stage, but they also have the best roster in the game.

Still, props to Joe Mazzulla and his players for taking care of business, and you can only play whoever is in front of you.

More than that, props to Jaylen Brown for rising to the occasion and justifying being the highest-paid player in the NBA.

Brown took the Eastern Conference Finals MVP trophy, and he admitted that he didn’t expect it because he never wins anything.

With that in mind, Jrue Holiday claimed that that mindset only made it even better, as it’s always nice to see good people get rewarded for the great job they do when they least expect it (via NBA).

“It’s even better because he didn’t expect it… When you see great people get rewarded for the things that they do, it brings joy.”

Truth be told, Brown is a very good player, but it has always seemed like he’s been in Jayson Tatum’s shadow, which is often what happens when a very good player plays with a unique talent.

Even so, there have been multiple instances in which Brown has actually outplayed Tatum, particularly in the playoffs.

Brown entered the season with a big chip on his shoulder after all that was said of him and whether he deserved that massive contract extension he got from the Celtics.

Now, he has to keep the momentum going and have some solid outings when it matters the most, as the Celtics are pretty much obliged to win the NBA championship.
