Team USA men’s basketball team has defeated two opponents so far in the 2024 Olympics.

Next up for the historic squad is Puerto Rico, who they will play on Saturday.

However, they may be without one of their most pivotal role players.

According to CBS Sports, Jrue Holiday is questionable against Puerto Rico because of an ankle injury.

Head coach Steve Kerr said that Holiday “rolled his ankle the other night” during the third quarter of Team USA’s important 103-86 win over South Sudan.

Holiday turned his ankle on one of the South Sudanese players’ feet but kept playing after the injury.

Holiday wasn’t a starter during the game against South Sudan but reports said that he’d be back in the starting five against Puerto Rico, alongside Steph Curry, Devin Booker, LeBron James, and Joel Embiid.

If Holiday really is hurt, Kerr will have to rely on a replacement and it’s not clear who that would be.

However, the good news is that this team is absolutely stacked with great talent so Kerr will have no shortage of stars to step up and fill the void left by Holiday.

It will be quite a void because Holiday is a proven player on both ends of the court.

He can shoot well but he’s also a terrific defensive help too.

If Holiday can’t play, fans should expect to see more of his Boston Celtics teammates Derrick White and Jayson Tatum.

There is also a possibility that Kerr decides to put Kevin Durant in the starting lineup, even though he has been part of the second unit as his injury fully heals.

Hopefully, Holiday can play but if he can’t, Team USA has options.
