The Boston Celtics are getting a little too comfortable.
Joe Mazzulla’s team has been playoff-bound for quite a while, and it seems like they’re relaxing way too much.
They recently saw a nine-game winning streak come to an end when they blew a 29-point lead against the Atlanta Hawks, and they lost to them again in a follow-up matchup.
Then, they got off to a slow start against the New Orleans Pelicans, but they were still able to come back and get the win after trailing for most of the second half.
With that in mind, Celtics star PG Jrue Holiday admitted that sometimes you need to get punched in the mouth to react (via Celtics on NBC Sports Boston).
“I think sometimes you need to get punched in the mouth,” Holiday said.

Of course, it’s only normal to see a team take their foot off the gas when they’ve already secured a postseason berth.
The Celtics were favoring health over anything else, as they should, as they have already secured homecourt advantage throughout the course of the playoffs, at least in the Eastern Conference.
Some people didn’t want to sound off the alarms and rightfully so, but you never want to go into the playoffs in a slump.
Losing habits tend to snowball, and it’s not like the Celtics have the luxury or benefit of the doubt anymore given the way they’ve underperformed in the playoffs every year.
On paper, the Celtics should be the clear-cut favorite to represent the East in the NBA Finals, but they still have to prove it.
