After their failed experiment with Kenny Pickett as their quarterback, the Pittsburgh Steelers knew they wanted to make a change heading into the offseason.

Making a quarterback change isn’t an easy task for any team, especially if they need to trade for a player or add them in free agency.

Luckily for the Steelers, they not only got one new quarterback on their roster, but they got two.

They added Justin Fields and Russell Wilson during the offseason, hoping one of them can shine in this offense, helping turn them around and bringing them back to being a contender.

Wilson is an established veteran who has turned in MVP-caliber performances at times, while Fields is still young and mostly unproven.

Early reporting from training camp has indicated that both athletes are playing well, but that Fields is performing at an exceptional rate.

He was recently asked about his new teammates in a conversation with Brian McFadden of CBS Sports, where he was especially complimentary of George Pickens, another young player.

According to Fields in this interview, “I mean, he’s elite. 50/50 balls aren’t really 50/50 balls, they’re more like 90/10 with him. He’s elite in space, he’s elite with the ball in his hands.”

Pickens and Fields haven’t had that much time together, but it’s clear that Fields thinks highly of the young receiver.

They have already established rapport, and if Fields does end up starting for the Steelers for any length of time during the 2024 season, they could have an opportunity to showcase their connection on a massive stage.
