Justin Fields is looking to get his career back on track with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Russell Wilson was supposed to get all of — or most of — the first-team reps in training camp.

However, a calf strain has kept him off the field, all while his younger teammate makes the most of the chance to showcase his skills.

When asked about a potential competition for the QB1 spot, Fields admitted that he wouldn’t even be in the position if it wasn’t for injuries, so he’s just looking to make the most of this opportunity (via Aaron Becker).

The Steelers pushed to sign Wilson, and they reportedly promised him that he would be the starter.

He agreed to sign a minimum-worth deal because he would get an opportunity to prove that he still could compete.

Then, trading for Justin Fields made the fans question whether he’d be a better fit for Arthur Smith’s offense, not to mention the fact that he’s younger and could be a long-term solution at the position.

Some speculated that Fields would get an opportunity to play and show off what he can do at some point in the season, especially if Wilson struggled early on.

But now that Mike Tomlin and his coaching staff have gotten a glimpse of his game earlier than expected, perhaps this could turn into a serious dilemma as we approach the start of the season.
