The 2023 NFL season was an absolute nightmare for the Los Angeles Chargers, who have had Super Bowl aspirations ever since they brought in talented quarterback Justin Herbert to join a defense led by Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack and Derwin James.

Unfortunately, last year seemed doomed from the start, with head coach Brandon Staley clearly not the right man for the job as he looked lost at times, leading to the Chargers eventually giving up 63 points to the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders and resulting in Staley’s firing.

Although the campaign was forgettable, to say the least, the Chargers might be able to bounce back with a vengeance during the 2024 season, with the team bringing in head coach Jim Harbaugh.

The presence of Harbaugh alone has been enough to make the Chargers an interesting team this season, but it all hinges on the health of Herbert, who suffered a foot injury in training camp and only recently got back on the practice field for the first time since July, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic.

This is a great sign for the Chargers, as there was some concern that Herbert wouldn’t be ready until just before Week 1 against the Raiders or potentially further into the season.

The fact that Herbert is already practicing with a couple of weeks to go until they host the Raiders at SoFi Stadium on Sept. 8 is a significant step in the right direction.
