Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings has a strong argument for being the NFL’s best wide receiver, and he’s looking to rebound from an injury-riddled 2023 campaign to tear the league apart this season.

A hamstring injury forced him to miss several games last year, but he seems healthy now, and he’s nearing an all-time record.

He needs just one more game with 125 receiving yards to reach 20 such games in five seasons and become the first NFL player to do so.

“I didn’t know that,” Jefferson said, via Jeff Wald of FOX 9 Sports. “I always say records are going to come whenever they come. If it’s my time to get over 125 and get that record, that’s wonderful.”

Justin Jefferson needs 125 yards Sunday to record his 20th such game in 5 seasons, which would be an all-time NFL record:

Jefferson will get his first chance at setting the mark in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season against the New York Giants.

He posted 1,074 yards and five touchdowns in just 10 games last year, ranking second in receiving yards per game at 107.4, behind Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins in that category (112.4).

Jefferson’s speed, combined with his uncanny ability to make contested catches, makes him one of the toughest covers in recent history, or even in the entire history of football.

This offseason, he received a four-year, $140 million contract extension, and he’s certainly been worth every penny of that deal.

There is, however, one thing that could get in Jefferson’s way of having a monster 2024 campaign.

J.J. McCarthy, the Vikings’ intriguing rookie quarterback, suffered a torn meniscus and is out for the season, meaning Sam Darnold, who has an NFL career completion rate of 59.7 percent, will be throwing the ball.

The Vikings are unlikely to make the playoffs this season, but Jefferson may still put on a great show with an NFL record in his sights.
