The Minnesota Vikings’ best player is 25 years old.

That speaks volumes about their plans and prospects for the future.

They’re not in a big rush to get J.J. McCarthy out on the field, knowing that they can have a long-lasting partnership with him and Justin Jefferson.

That’s why it wasn’t a coincidence to see that they put their lockers right next to each other, hoping they would bond off the field as well.

In his recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Jefferson admitted that he absolutely loved McCarthy’s attitude.

It must be a good sign that rookie @Vikings QB @jjmccarthy09 locker is right next to @JJettas2, right?#NFL #SKOL pic.twitter.com/yguW2qcDVY

He claimed that he was definitely trying to learn as much as possible, asking a lot of questions, picking his brain, and making sure to soak in as much information as possible.

Jefferson embraced a mentorship role with him, and even though he hasn’t been in the league for that long either, he’s been helpful when it comes to dealing with expectations and teaching him the ropes of being a rookie in the National Football League.

Judging by the reports, it seems like McCarthy is still quite raw and might need more time than expected to be ready to take the field.

Then again, he’s just 21 years old, and the Vikings have a more than capable guy out there in Sam Darnold, so there’s no need to throw him into the fire until he’s fully prepared to do so, even if it’s not this season.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and the Vikings must be patient with their new franchise quarterback.
