The Los Angeles Clippers have been in control of the city for quite a while now.
While they’re obviously still in the Los Angeles Lakers’ shadows and might never be able to get out of it, they’ve dominated the rivalry since the Lob City days, and especially since LeBron James’ arrival in Southern California.
Perhaps that’s why they were a little too confident in their last encounter.
Clippers star Kawhi Leonard admitted that the offense got a little too careless, erratic, and stagnant during the second half, stating that the loss should be on them (via Tomer Azarly and ClutchPoints).
“Tonight it pretty much was on us. We had control of the game pretty much throughout the 3 quarters and then we got pretty stagnant, turned over the ball in that 2nd half a little bit and they capitalized on it. I think they scored like 20 some points off of nine turnovers in the second half,” Leonard said.

Leonard claimed the Lakers scored about 20 points off nine turnovers in the second half, which is obviously a concern.
LeBron James turned back the clock with a 19-point fourth quarter, and the Lakers outscored the Clippers 39-16 in the final 12 minutes of the game, so he obviously deserves a lot of credit for the comeback.
The Clippers have been one of the best teams in the league since December 1, and they should be a big dark horse to come out of the Western Conference.
Then again, they need to make sure to get Paul George back to full strength for their postseason run, as he’s once again dealing with a knee injury.
Barring injuries or major surprises, this team should make a lot of noise if they stay focused.
