Klay Thompson’s run with the Golden State Warriors was simply incredible.

There, he became one of the greatest shooters this game has ever seen.

He was also a multi-time All-Star and helped the team reach the NBA Finals six times.

Thompson and the Warriors won four rings together, but it could’ve been five.

That’s something that still burns Thompson inside.

In his interview with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson for the All The Smoke podcast, he revealed that his biggest career regret was conceding that switch off of Kyrie Irving late in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Klay’s biggest regret came from switching off of Kyrie in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.

Now they are teammates in Dallas.

Thompson got caught up with JR Smith and allowed Kyrie to get switched on Stephen Curry, and the rest is history.

Irving pulled up and knocked down one of the greatest shots in NBA Finals history to seal the first-ever 3-1 comeback on that stage and spoil the Warriors’ 73-9 season.

Thompson was an elite defender at the time, and he claimed that he still couldn’t watch the footage of that play because he was so angry at the fact that he gave up that switch.

Of course, that kind of thing will always happen; it’s basketball.

The Warriors had three chances to seal the deal and win the NBA championship, so it’s not like that was the only reason why they failed to get it done.

Still, them winning the ring that season could’ve changed the course of NBA history, as perhaps Kevin Durant wouldn’t have joined them.
