Kelly Oubre recently signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, effectively ending his time with the Charlotte Hornets.
The 2022-2023 season was one of the best statistical seasons for Oubre, a trend he will look to continue with the 76ers.
Oubre spoke at a 76ers press conference, where he was asked about his potential impact and role on this team.
According to NBA Central, Oubre said the 76ers are a team that “wins every year,” adding, “I come from teams where they have no hope.”
Kelly Oubre says he’s glad he can finally play for a winning team after having played for a team with ‘no hope.’
“This team wins every year. Right? The fan base wants them to win more, but I come from teams where they have no hope. Like zero hope within the whole city and that’s… pic.twitter.com/1ZQ0HQJ7eS

Oubre has spent time with the Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and most recently, the Hornets.
His latest comments indicate that he could be referring to the Charlotte Hornets.
The 76ers have been a staple of the NBA playoffs as of late, appearing in the postseason in six consecutive seasons.
With any luck, that streak will continue this year, and Oubre will feel like his efforts are meaningful, according to this press conference.
Oubre averaged 20.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists last year.
While his stats don’t necessarily pop off the page for the majority of fans, he could contribute as a depth piece in the 76ers offense.
There are a lot of unknowns with the 76ers heading into the 2023-2024 season, the most significant being James Harden’s status.
Harden is reportedly unhappy with the organization, which could lead to him sitting out for a portion of the year.
This could open the door for more playing time for Oubre, turning into a daily starter rather than a depth piece.
