The Texas Rangers were quite busy during the offseason, as they finally addressed their biggest need in starting pitching.

But their offseason shopping wasn’t limited to star players on the free-agent market.

After former manager Chris Woodward had been dismissed, they added one of the greatest skippers the game has ever witnessed in Bruce Bochy.

Bochy won three World Series rings with the San Francisco Giants and had retired after the 2019 season.

However, he found a new home with the Rangers.

So far, Bochy’s impact on the team has been quite noticeable.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic commented on what Bochy has been able to do with the Rangers and what makes him one of the greatest skippers of all time.

Rosenthal talked about some of the things that he finds the most fascinating about the three-time World Series champion, particularly the fact that he doesn’t take notes during games.

In fact, Bochy is so in tune with the game that he essentially doesn’t need to take notes.

Rosenthal talked about the little things that the veteran skipper does, such as watching the games intently and being able to process everything on the fly.

Bochy is simply ahead of the game and knows how to do things such as manage a bullpen and even pick up on things that other teams are doing.

Rosenthal used Bochy watching the opposing team’s dugout and bullpen to see if a new pitcher or a pinch hitter may be stirring as an example.

And this is what truly sets Bochy apart from the rest of the pack.
