The 2023-24 NBA regular season has gotten off to a rough start for the Los Angeles Lakers, with the team struggling to stay healthy and play consistently well on the basketball court night in and night out.
After getting blown out by Dillon Brooks and the Houston Rockets last night, the Lakers have fallen to 3-5 on the season, with every loss so far being on the road.
The Lakers seem to be headed in the same direction the Golden State Warriors were last season, as they played well at home and struggled against every opponent on the road.
With the Lakers struggling after what was dubbed an incredible offseason filled with brilliant moves by the team’s front office, the team is starting to get heavily criticized for a number of different things, leading many to wonder whether a third star is needed in Los Angeles.
Former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins believes the Lakers do indeed need another star playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, via NBA on ESPN.

With the Lakers only playing eight games thus far in the regular season and the team dealing with a lot of injuries at the moment, mainly to players who signed with the team over the summer, it’s too early to tell whether this team is headed for disaster or needs time to get healthy.
However, the last couple of seasons have all gone the same way for the Lakers, with health being the one thing the team has leaned on as an excuse for their poor play and failing to live up to expectations.
There’s a long way to go for the Lakers this season, but it’s looking like more of the same from a team that depends on an aging superstar and a superstar who can’t stay healthy.
