The New York Knicks made the first big move of the offseason.

Adding Mikal Bridges to that mix was huge, and re-signing OG Anunoby was also at the top of their priority list.

With those big moves, they went from having +1600 odds to win the NBA championship to +1000 — the fifth-best in the league.

Notably, Kendrick Perkins agrees with that ranking.

Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, the retired big man claimed that the Knicks were a top-five team in the league right now, adding that they might be the biggest threat to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.

“I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the New York Knicks are a top five team in the NBA.”

He stated that Jalen Brunson was the best player in the East last season.

He thinks that pairing him with another outstanding two-way player like Mikal Bridges was huge, adding that OG Anunoby is also scratching the surface of being an All-Star player.

More than that, Perkins predicted that the Knicks aren’t done making moves and that they could still have something up their sleeve.

Some might feel like they overpaid for a player with no All-Star appearances, and that might be the case.

Nonetheless, the Knicks could afford to do that because of their surplus of assets, and Bridges is one of the most durable guys in the league.

He gets the job done on both ends of the floor, and now that he’s reunited with his Villanova teammates, the Knicks have officially gone from a very good team to a legitimate contender to pursue an NBA championship in the foreseeable future.
