Kyrie Irving is one of the most polarizing figures in NBA history.

However, what most basketball lovers and current and former players can all agree on is that he’s also one of the most talented players the game has ever seen.

Recently, former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins shared his thoughts on the matter.

Talking to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, the retired big man claimed that Irving would be the best player in the league if he were 6-foot-6 (via Legion Hoops).

As hot as that take may sound, he’s not that far off.

Irving has the best handles in the game, perhaps of all time.

He can finish and shoot with both hands with ease, and he’s got the footwork of a seven-footer.

While he’s never been a pass-first kind of guy, having a shooting guard who averages six assists per game is something all teams would gladly sign up for.

Also, he’s proven during the postseason that he can also be a factor on the defensive end of the floor when he’s locked in, not to mention the fact that he’s an efficient three-level scorer.

Over the years, Irving has drawn plenty of negative attention his way, and he’s got no one but himself to blame for that.

But when it comes strictly to basketball, he’s always been one of the finest entertainers in the game, and even his biggest detractor will have to admit that the game of basketball is simply better when he’s locked in on the court.
