The relationship between James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers seemed to be tarnished.

Earlier this summer, the 76ers decided to look to trade Harden, and it looked like the feeling was mutual, as Harden reportedly wanted out.

But just days ago, it was reported that the Sixers would no longer look to trade him, and Harden went on a tirade, calling executive Daryl Morey “a liar.”

Philly plans on bringing Harden to training camp at the end of the summer, but some may be wondering if he will even show up.

Former NBA player and current ESPN personality Kendrick Perkins said that this could be the beginning of the end of his career and said he could even be out of the league very soon, via NBACentral.

Kendrick Perkins believes James Harden could be out of the league soon

“James Harden has everything to lose and if he’s not careful, he could possibly be out of the league after next year because here’s the thing: You can’t trust him… The NBA don’t need him… They move on… pic.twitter.com/BPYodcpvZN

Harden currently has one year left on his contract, and at $35.6 million, that final year doesn’t seem to reflect his on-court value these days.

He averaged 21.0 points and a league-high 10.7 assists per game this past season, and at times in the playoffs, he was outstanding, especially in Game 1 of the second round against the Boston Celtics, when he dropped 45 points in a win.

But after the Sixers took a 3-2 series lead, the veteran guard shot a combined 7-of-27 as they lost the final two games and the series.

It was a continuation of a career-long trend of Harden playing poorly in elimination games and big playoff contests.

Once Philly decided to try to trade him, he wanted to be sent to the Los Angeles Clippers, but a deal never came about, and now he is stuck on a team that is good, but likely not good enough to win the NBA championship.
