For much of last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers looked like one of the best up-and-coming teams in the entire league.

In the postseason, they looked like the complete opposite.

After getting pushed out of the playoffs in the first round by the New York Knicks, the Cavaliers are looking to rebound and move forward in 2023-24.

Their hopes should be very high – as should their goals – according to Kendrick Perkins.

Sitting down on ESPN, Perkins claimed that the Cavaliers should be fighting to make it far in the playoffs:

“I believe that they will get better. The Cleveland Cavaliers’ goal should be at least reaching the conference finals. They have to get to the conference finals the way they look on paper.”

Perkins gave a few reasons why the Cavaliers should get to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Firstly, they have improved their bench’s depth and have added a couple of strong players.

They also have an exciting young rookie, Emoni Bates, who really showed up and played well during Summer League.

But more importantly, the team retained its strong core of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen.

All of that puts them in a good position to make it far in the playoffs.

Of course, the same was said about the team last year but they collapsed when the pressure of the postseason arrived.

Even with their new additions, promising rookie, and strong core, do the Cavaliers have what it takes to overcome juggernauts like the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics?

Cleveland proved they can have a great regular season.

Now it is time for them to show they can carry their talents and strength into the playoffs too.

Expectations for this team will once again be high in the new season.
