Getting the job done in the regular season is nice and all, but true NBA legends achieve greatness by getting the job done when it actually counts.
Those who rise to the occasion have a special place in history, even if they’re not considered the best to ever do it.
Throughout the course of history, we’ve seen countless players try and fail when the game has been on the line, and just a handful of them have actually gotten better.
Guys like Kobe Bryant and Damian Lillard have always showcased that clutch gene, and with so many talented players in this league over the years, it’s hard to rank the ones who made a living in the clutch in the playoffs.
With that in mind, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins put together his own list (via NBA on ESPN & ClutchPoints).

At No. 5, he chose his former teammate, Paul Pierce, who was known for always delivering when the game was on the line, particularly in the playoffs; hence The Truth nickname.
Unsurprisingly, he later chose his friend, LeBron James, citing that even though he doesn’t have a reputation for being a clutch performer, he has the most buzzer-beaters in playoff history (5).
Then, he gave Robert Horry his flowers, calling him the greatest role player of all time for his countless big shots and the way he contributed to seven championships with multiple organizations.
Bill Russell got the nod at No. 2 because of the fact that he went undefeated in Game 7s (10-0), and while the competition wasn’t the toughest, he always got the job done.
Last but not least, he had the one and only Michael Jordan, a guy who ended multiple series with game-winning shots, including in the NBA Finals, and who most people to this day still consider to be the greatest player to ever do it.
