Joel Embiid has made Philadephia 76ers — and NBA history.
With his 70 points against the San Antonio Spurs, he became just the third big man to score at least 70 points in an NBA game, joining the likes of Wilt Chamberlain and David Robinson.
He also broke Chamberlain’s Sixers franchise record.
Notably, that offensive display was more than enough to convince former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins that he was the best offensive player in the league.
Perkins took to Twitter to state that Embiid has now officially passed Kevin Durant for the best scorer in the game, mastering every facet of the offense and stating that he has zero flaws on that end of the floor.
“With all due Respect to KD… but Joel Embiid is the best Scorer in the game!!! He has mastered the offensive end and he has ZERO FLAWS offensively. What he’s doing to people on a night to night basis is ridiculous! God Bless America,” Perkins said.

We’ve all seen Perkins overreact to good and bad games way too many times in the past, so the fans usually take his comments with a grain of salt.
Also, Durant is perhaps the greatest pure scorer ever, but he’s not the best scorer in today’s game.
Whatever the case, he does have a valid point when it comes to Embiid’s scoring prowess.
He continues to draw criticism for the fact that he often settles for contested and long jump shots instead of posting up and making the most of his big frame to dominate down low, and that has been an issue in elimination games and the playoffs multiple times.
Still, he has guard-like skills in a seven-footer’s body, and that’s also mesmerizing and impressive, and no one can take anything away from him.
