Ever since the Dallas Mavericks traded for Luka Doncic in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Slovenian import has put the NBA on notice that he might be the next big thing in the league with a potentially bright future ahead.

So far, Doncic has set the league ablaze with his incredible scoring and passing skills, but he hasn’t had much success in the playoffs, as the Mavericks haven’t lived up to expectations over the last few years.

However, this season, Doncic has taken his game to another level, with the 25-year-old superstar putting on a show on a nightly basis while leading the NBA in scoring and putting up a career-best 73 points recently against the Atlanta Hawks.

Currently, the Mavericks are 10 games above .500 at 33-23, with Dallas sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference and Doncic making a strong case for NBA MVP.

ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins thinks that Doncic is currently the “most dangerous” player in the West and compares him to LeBron James without the same athleticism, via NBA on ESPN.

“Luka is the most dangerous player in the Western Conference,” Perkins said. … He is LeBron James minus the athleticism.”

At this point in time, the Mavericks simply need to stay healthy, with Doncic and fellow superstar Kyrie Irving needing to keep producing on the floor while keeping the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, and Los Angeles Lakers at bay.

If Doncic can continue to play at a high level, Dallas could be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time.
