The Minnesota Timberwolves’ plans for a sweep were dismantled on Friday night as MVP Nikola Jokic and his Denver Nuggets scored a huge Game 3 victory and brought the series to 2-1.
Following the defeat, Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards spoke with the press and took full responsibility for the loss, saying, “That’s on me. I’ll take the blame for this loss. I came out with no energy at all.”
Edwards’ statement made plenty of people proud, including Kendrick Perkins.
Perkins hopped on Twitter to write, “Perfect example of ACCOUNTABILITY!!! Best young leader in the Game.”

Being called the best young leader in the entire NBA is a major deal and it’s a badge of honor for Edwards.
It’s also well-earned because Edwards has definitely been doing terrific leadership work this season.
It all started in the summer when Edwards represented America while playing for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup.
At the time, plenty of analysts said it was his chance to show that he could do more than simply score.
They said it was a great opportunity for Edwards to learn how to listen to teammates more and guide them to victory.
Team USA ultimately fell short of its goals but that time in the World Cup was setting the stage for this season.
When 2023–24 kicked off, Edwards was ready to be the most important player for his Timberwolves in a number of ways.
Edwards averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists during the regular season but has stepped up his game in the playoffs.
He has been putting up 30.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists during the postseason and has been the most vital part of his team’s success.
They fell short on Friday but Edwards vowed it won’t happen again.
He will use Game 4 as a chance to remind everyone what type of player and leader he is.
