On Thursday night, Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves put on a show in an elimination game against the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets at the Target Center in Minneapolis in order to keep their hopes of advancing to the Western Conference Finals alive.
After losing three straight games to the Nuggets after winning the first two of the series, it seemed inevitable that Nikola Jokic and company would advance to the next round to face either the Dallas Mavericks or the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.
However, after Thursday night’s blowout win, the series has shifted once again, with a winner-take-all scenario set to be played in Game 7 at Ball Arena in the Mile High City.
Although the Nuggets are unsurprisingly favored heading into Game 7 on Sunday, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins believes that Edwards and his squad will again defy the odds and get the best of the defending champions on their home floor this weekend.
He also believes the Mavericks will advance to the next round to face them for a chance to get to the NBA Finals, via ESPN’s “First Take.”
“Dallas Mavericks vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves,” Perkins said. “That’s gonna be the Western Conference Finals.”

At this point in time, any scenario in either Western Conference series seems plausible, with all four teams seemingly worthy of advancing to the next round and potentially being the favorite to win it all, regardless of who advances to the Finals in the Eastern Conference.
Game 7 for the Nuggets and Timberwolves will definitely be a matchup for the stars to shine, as it would be safe to assume whoever has the better game between Jokic and Edwards will come out on top.
