It’s hard to say that the NBA Draft shakes things up at the top of the league.
Usually, bad teams get better by landing the best prospects, while contenders are most likely to pick at the end of the rounds — if at all.
That’s why Kendrick Perkins’ power rankings weren’t moved by the NBA Draft, but he still had an interesting choice for the top-five teams in the league.

At No. 5, Perkins chose the Los Angeles Lakers, citing that Austin Reaves looks like a star in the making and that Rui Hachimura has improved a lot since working out with Phil Handy.
He believes that having a full training camp will only make this team better and scarier, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis healthy.
Then, he talked about the Milwaukee Bucks, hoping that they can bring back Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez, and raving about their new coach.
He also claimed that Giannis Antetokounmpo is perhaps the best player in the league, and they still have Bobby Portis and Jrue Holiday.
At No. 3, Perkins claimed he wouldn’t sleep on the Sacramento Kings again, calling De’Aaron Fox a rising superstar and praising his efficiency in the clutch, adding that Keegan Murray and Domantas Sabonis will only get better with Mike Brown there.
Perkins talked about the Denver Nuggets at No. 2, citing that even though they’re the reigning champions, losing Bruce Brown Jr. could take a major toll on their chances.
And last but not least, he doesn’t care about the doubters and called the Phoenix Suns the team to beat, stating that they still have plenty of time to move Deandre Ayton or bring in more pieces, and citing that they now have the three most efficient scorers in the game in Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal.
