Sitting at 14-20 almost midway through the 2023-24 NBA season, the Atlanta Hawks appear to be heading in the wrong direction yet again.
The Hawks went close to all-in on their current roster when they traded a haul of draft picks to land Dejounte Murray, but he and Trae Young have been unable to get the team over the hump.
In a season where Atlanta was hoping to compete for a playoff spot, they look more likely to miss the postseason entirely.
Making matters worse is their cap sheet as they are in the luxury tax and reports have the team looking to shed salary.
Murray has been brought up as the most likely player to get traded, but individuals like Clint Capela and Bogdan Bogdanovic have also been brought up.
Kendrick Perkins believes that Atlanta isn’t going anywhere and has some difficult choices ahead of it via his personal Twitter account.
“It’s time for the Hawks to make you tough decisions!!! They have been one of the biggest disappointments this season. Somebody needs a change of scenery. Carry on tho…,” Perkins tweeted.

Perkins is likely talking about Murray who’s been fine on paper, but isn’t quite the star-level guard the Hawks were hoping for when they traded for him.
Young is playing as well as he ever has, but optimizing him and Murray has been a challenge for head coach Quin Snyder.
Several teams have registered interest in trading for Murray, but given what Atlanta gave up to get him they are likely expecting a similar haul in any sort of deal.
