A few years ago, the Los Angeles Clippers sent shockwaves through the NBA as they landed the biggest name in free agency with the signing of superstar Kawhi Leonard, who was coming off an NBA title with the Toronto Raptors, and then traded for superstar forward Paul George in a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The combination of George and Leonard was considered a game-changer for the Clippers and the team’s first real push at becoming a legitimate title contender in the Western Conference under owner Steve Ballmer.
Even though the Clippers have been considered a contender from year to year with Leonard and George leading the way, the team has consistently failed to live up to expectations, which now has led to George leaving the team in free agency to join forces with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey on the Philadelphia 76ers.
In the aftermath of George’s departure and a potentially bleak future ahead with an often-injured Leonard leading the squad, ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins said the Clippers should start to think about trading the two-time NBA champion, via NBA on ESPN.
“If I’m the Clippers, I would consider trading Kawhi Leonard right now, because they’re just stuck in the middle,” Perkins said.

With Leonard rarely healthy enough to make an impact for the Clippers, especially during the NBA playoffs, Perkins might be correct that now is the time to start considering trading the veteran elsewhere.
Only time will tell what happens with the Clippers and whether they decide to move on from Leonard.
