With 82 games during the NBA regular season, things change frequently in this league, especially when it comes to teams that might potentially be able to contend for a title.

After the Milwaukee Bucks acquired superstar guard Damian Lillard in a blockbuster trade with the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns, Giannis Antetokounmpo and company were thought to be the team to beat in the NBA, with that duo potentially being second to none.

Even though Lillard and Antetokoumpo have played well as a duo this season, the team took a major hit on the defensive end of the basketball floor with the loss of Jrue Holiday, which has made the Bucks much less of a threat on defense.

Fortunately, Milwaukee is still among the league’s elite teams with a record of 24-9 as of January 2nd, but former NBA player turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins isn’t sold on this team being a legitimate threat to win it all right now, even though they’ve won eight of their last 10 games via NBA on ESPN.

“No one is fearing the deer as of late,” Perkins said.

Perkins argues that the Bucks haven’t really played anyone of merit in the first half of the 2023-24 NBA season, with the team in desperate need of a signature win in order to prove their worth as a legit contender in the Eastern Conference.

Fortunately for Milwaukee, there’s still a lot of basketball left to be played, with plenty of opportunities to show the rest of the league how good they can be once the NBA playoffs roll around in a few months.
