It has been a long week waiting for the NBA Finals to start, as the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks both had their Conference Finals matchups wrapped up in four and five games, respectively, but we are finally here and there isn’t much time left to fire off your predictions.
This is a year where we might have an even amount of predictions on each side, and “Inside The NBA’s” Kenny Smith has made his prediction for who is winning it all.
In his pregame discussion, Smith said he has the Celtics winning the title, adding: “How can you lose if your fifth-best player could be the first-best player on most bad teams in the NBA? … They have everything you need this year to win a championship.”

Smith added that if both teams play their best, he believes the Celtics are the better team due to the fact that their third, fourth, fifth, and sixth-best players are all former or borderline All-Stars.
Sometimes in the playoffs, whichever team has the best player is the one that finds a way to get it done, and there is an argument to be made that nobody is better than Luka Doncic right now.
The Mavericks are aiming to become the first No. 5 seed to win a title, as only two teams seeded lower than No. 3 have ever won it all.
This is shaping up to be a fun matchup, and after so much time off since the Conference Finals, excitement is through the roof.
