Ketel Marte was a Seattle Mariners prospect in the early 2010s.

He got to play MLB games with the M’s in 2015 and 2016.

Late in 2016, however, he was traded alongside right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for Jean Segura, Mitch Haniger, and lefty pitcher Zac Curtis.

He blossomed into an everyday contributor in the desert, even logging a 32-homer season in 2019.

Marte was actually part of the last Diamondbacks team to make the postseason, back in 2017.

Since those days, he has been showing his worth at the biggest stage.

In this graphic, MLB Network highlights Marte’s long streak of games with a hit to open his postseason career.

Marte checks in at third place with 12 games with a hit, tied with multiple players in third behind Marquis Grissom (15) and Greg Luzinski (13).

The infielder is hitting a cool .385/.396/.712 with three home runs and a 1.108 OPS in the playoffs for his career.

On Thursday, he got a crucial walk-off hit to center field in the bottom of the ninth to give his team the win.

Now, they are down 2-1 instead of 3-0.

There is a world of difference between the two scenarios, so Arizona fans surely thank him.

The hit, a laser to center field, came against a potential future Hall of Famer in Craig Kimbrel.

Marte went hunting a high 96-mph fastball, and he returned it almost as hard as he got it.

The Philadelphia Phillies and the Diamondbacks will take the field again on Friday, as the latter will try to tie the series at home, at Chase Field, behind Marte.
