The NBA world was buzzing yesterday as several individual performances took over social media.

Victor Wembanyama scored 33 points, and Karl Anthony-Towns put up 62.

While both performances would have yielded strong fan reactions, Joel Embiid’s night seemed to take the cake.

He scored 70 points, which turned into the story of the evening.

Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns were playing in the late game, so they were unaware of this accomplishment until after their matchup concluded.

A video clip shared by the NBA’s official account showcased Durant being told by a reporter that Embiid scored 70, eliciting a strong reaction from him.

He was in disbelief over this accomplishment, as it is a rare day in the NBA for someone to score at this high rate.

Seventy points was a career-high for Embiid, putting him into a tie for the 12th-highest single-game score in the history of the NBA.

Coincidentally, Durant’s teammate, Devin Booker, also has a 70-point performance on his resume.

Durant might be one of the NBA’s best players, but his best individual performance was in 2022 when he scored 55 points against the Atlanta Hawks.

This live reaction was genuine, representing how much players respect their peers and what they can achieve on the court.

They might be rivals when they face off, especially in the playoffs, but as they say, game recognizes game.

Embiid is already performing like an MVP to this point in the season, and this 70-point performance could go a long way in securing him this award at the end of the year.
