Kevin Durant’s tenure with the Brooklyn Nets was full of ups and downs.
When healthy and available, he was as spectacular and efficient as always, and he was one foot on the line away from maybe taking them to the NBA Finals — or at least the Eastern Conference Finals.
Nonetheless, their Dream Team ended in a bit of a nightmare on and off the court, and the Nets didn’t get much in return after he, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden left the premises.
That’s why, as much as he has no animosity towards the fans or the organization, he recently admitted that he didn’t know what to expect for his return to Brooklyn (via Duane Rankin).
“It’s up in the air on what may happen,” Durant said.
“I’m excited. Can’t wait to see some of the people that I worked with I got to know over the last 4 years.”

In all honesty, there should be no reason for the fans not to give him some love in his comeback.
He did request to be traded once it all fell apart, but he was the only star they had who showed up day in and day out regardless of who was on the court with him.
Kyrie Irving and James Harden still might not have a lot of fans in Brooklyn and it would be hard to talk the fans out of that, as they didn’t put the team first and often had personal agendas, not to mention the fact that the team failed to live up to its unmatched potential.
But Durant always put his head down and kept working, and even the most diehard Nets fan should acknowledge that and give him his flowers.
