Kevin Durant knows expectations are radically high for the Phoenix Suns but he’s not paying attention to them.
The superstar spoke with SiriusXM NBA Radio and was asked about what people are expecting from his team.
He acknowledged that never everyone is envisioning great things for the Suns.
“Obviously, if we don’t win the title we’ll get pounced on,” he said.
But he said that he doesn’t look at an NBA season that way and is instead focused on winning every game, without thinking about championships.

Durant obviously knows what everyone else does: people are expecting very big things from his team in the new season.
That was true last year as well.
When the Suns acquired Durant at the trade deadline last season, nearly everyone agreed they were favorites to come out of the Western Conference.
According to some, they practically had a stamped ticket straight to the Finals.
As it turned out, they didn’t and they were pushed out of the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets.
But they then went wild in the offseason, hiring a new coach and multiple other important players.
They were a very strong team before but they got even stronger during the summer.
However, that means that people are expecting even more in 2023-24.
For many, anything less than a trip to the championship will be seen as a big disappointment, and Durant is well aware of that.
But he is smart to focus solely on winning game after game and silencing all the thoughts and hopes of fans.
Like those fans, Durant also wants the Suns to get to the Finals but he’s trying to not think about it too much.
