Kevin Durant is one of the greatest players in NBA history, and not even his biggest detractor could argue with that statement.
Durant has won two NBA championships with two Finals MVPs under his belt, yet some people continue to try to discredit them.
His decision to join the Golden State Warriors was heavily criticized, and he’s embraced a ‘villain’ role ever since.
Perhaps that’s why he doesn’t take as much pride in those games as he does in others earlier in his career.
Recently, he was asked about the most memorable game of his NBA career, and he didn’t talk about the championships or even about his MVP season (via NBA).
Instead, he talked about Game 6 of the 2012 Western Conference Finals, a game in which they were down by double digits and had to rally to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals.
“Game 6, 2012 Western Conference Finals.”

Durant was at his best in that game, taking over with 34 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, one steal, two blocks, and four three-pointers on 53% from the floor, making a statement and proving to be one of the rising stars in the league.
Notably, Durant’s first trip to the NBA Finals wouldn’t end well, though, as his young Thunder team wouldn’t be able to get past LeBron James and the Miami Heat’s Big 3, but it was when he first introduced himself to the rest of the basketball scene.
Fast forward to today, and he’s a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, even if he doesn’t have many fans rooting for him.
