The Minnesota Timberwolves got the best of the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

The Suns had dominated them lately, but Anthony Edwards took it upon himself to lead his team to a big win.

The former No. 1 pick was feeling himself during the game, and he let Kevin Durant know that he had officially arrived in the league by talking some trash after hitting some big shots on him.

However, there’s no bad blood there whatsoever.

Following the game, the Suns star stated that it’s just the way competitors talk when they play basketball, and it’s normal for a guy to talk some smack when he gets hot and knocks down shots (via Gerald Bourguet).

Kevin Durant on Anthony Edwards trash talking him after making those 3s: “Yeah, it’s just basketball – not even playoffs, it’s just hoop. You get hot, you make shots, you make tough shots, you’re gonna feel excited about yourself. So it’s on me to keep coming back” pic.twitter.com/Y25LOvUdN5

Durant added that it’ll now be up to him to get back at Edwards in the next couple of games.

Still, Durant carried most of the load for Frank Vogel’s team in Game 1.

Devin Booker, on the other hand, had another postseason outing to forget, not even cracking double-digits in points, and shying away from guarding Edwards one-on-one on the other end of the floor.

Of course, we’ve seen momentum shift in a playoff series way too many times in the past, and Booker shouldn’t have another performance as bad as that one in the following outing, so this is far from done.

It’ll be interesting to see if Edwards keeps the same energy going and continues to talk his talk if the Suns get back at him and steal home-court advantage in Game 2, and it seems like this will be a very fun series to watch.
