As Team USA and its superstars prepare to take on Team Canada on Wednesday night in Las Vegas, the team has been practicing in hopes of building some chemistry.

While getting ready for the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics, Team USA has been having scrimmages with the USA Select Team, which is headlined by Cooper Flagg, who will be playing for Duke next season and is expected to be in the running to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Although there’s been a lot of hype around Flagg over the past couple of years, he proved that he might be the real deal as he gave superstars like Kevin Durant, LeBron James and the rest of the star-studded U.S. Olympic squad all they could handle this week.

After practice on Tuesday, Durant spoke to the media about what he’s seen from Flagg thus far, claiming that he plays more like a seasoned veteran than someone who is a teenager with no NBA experience, via Ben Golliver of The Washington Post.

“He looks like a hell of a player. … He’s 17 years old coming in here playing like a vet almost. No emotion. Just going out there and doing his job. That’s a good sign,” Durant said.

It’ll be interesting to see how this summer’s experience of playing against some of the best players in the world will shape Flagg’s path and help his draft stock before he begins his college career.

Flagg will be a name heard frequently over the next year or so, as he’s bound to make an impression in college basketball before making the jump to the professional level.
